Module 10 reinforces all previous work covered in Modules 1 to 9 and introduces the vowel digraphs and phonics of ‘ar’ and ‘er’. Next comes ‘wh’ words and these are worked on in family groups with special reference to question words. The regular final syllable ‘-le’ is established in Star skill 49 and this new spelling choice greatly increases available vocabulary. Finally, Module 10 ends with a punctuation review and this is seen not only as a great opportunity to iron out any weakness and/or confusion, as well as a natural pause for the consolidation of all previously learned literacy skills. Reaching the halfway mark of the MSL Structured Literacy Programme is cause for great celebration!
